Intimate Ashland Alabama Wedding Photography

Mary Elizabeth + Jason
Ashland, Alabama
December 31st, 2020

2020 was a wonderful year for DSmithImages, and it literally ended on a beautiful note. That’s because I got to photograph an absolutely GORGEOUS micro and DIY wedding in Ashland, Alabama on New Year’s Eve.

I got up super early in the morning on New Year’s Eve and drove to a private residence in Ashland. That is where I met up with Mary Elizabeth and Jason, the happy couple that was about to tie the knot.

Mary Elizabeth and Jason decided to get hitched on land where they’re building a home. It just so happens the land belongs to Jason’s family, and it’s used for cattle ranching. It also just so happens the land is incredibly picturesque.

Oh yeah… I should definitely mention that everything was blanketed by a layer of fog. That made the setting so dreamy and ethereal. It looked out of time but absolutely perfect for an early winter wedding.

Mary Elizabeth and Jason said their vows in front of a small number of family and friends. A special touch during the ceremony was Mary Elizabeth and Jason branding a block of wood with Jason’s family brand. The couple then used the block of wood as the official guestbook.

When the ceremony concluded, everyone went back up to the home of Jason’s parents for a brunch reception.

True to form of the DIY spirit and cattle ranching spirit, Jason took the honor of cooking steaks for everyone to enjoy as the main entree for the reception meal.

After everyone enjoyed the delicious food, Mary Elizabeth and Jason made a confetti decorated exit and headed up to Mentone, Alabama as husband and wife.

I want to thank Mary Elizabeth and Jason so much for having me out to photograph their beautiful wedding celebration. It was a pleasure to do, and I want to wish them nothing but the best in their lives together. I also want to thank their friends and family for the hospitality shown to me throughout the wedding day.

As I mentioned, Mary Elizabeth and Jason’s wedding celebration was just a wonderful way to close out what was an incredibly successful and rewarding 2020 wedding season. It also set the tone for what should be a fantastic 2021 wedding season in Alabama and beyond.

I’d also love to talk with anyone looking to book photography for their upcoming wedding or elopement celebration. Please visit my wedding photography pricing page to request a personalized quote.
