Ellie + Josh
Ecola State Park
Cannon Beach, Oregon
November 14th, 2020
November 14th, 2020 should have been the wedding day for Ellie and Josh in Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, though, they had to push their celebration back to November of 2021. Sometimes things don’t work out as planned, but there’s that whole saying about life and lemons because lemonade is delicious.
When Ellie and Josh told me about having to push their wedding back to November 14th, I didn’t want them to worry. I also wanted to give them something to make things a little better in 2020. That’s when I said I’d still come out to Oregon as planned but instead of a wedding… I’d photograph an engagement session for them.
Ellie and Josh were happy to accept, and we decided to meet up at Cannon Beach on November 13th. It had long been a goal of mine to photograph in the Pacific Northwest and at a place as beautiful as Cannon Beach.
We actually started the session at Ecola State Park, specifically Ecola Point and Indian Beach. This is where we made use of the breathtaking view of Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, and the Pacific Ocean.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that a MASSIVE storm had come through the area the previous night. In fact, we were expecting it to still be lingering and cause issues during the engagement session.
Mother Nature was looking out for Ellie and Josh, though, because they were blessed with beautiful conditions, including sunny skies, during the shoot.
After making use of Ecola State Park, we drove a little way down the road to Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock just before sunset. Everything on the beach was absolutely perfect for Ellie and Josh as they enjoyed the beautiful setting to finish up their engagement session.
I want to thank Ellie and Josh for choosing me to photograph their wedding in the first place, and I want to thank them for agreeing to do this engagement session.
I hate that they had to push their wedding back to 2021, but I’m also happy I was able to do this for them in its place. I can’t wait to go back to Portland next year and photograph their celebration.
I’d also love to talk with anyone looking to book photography for their upcoming wedding or elopement celebration. Please visit my wedding photography pricing page to request a personalized quote.
