Kelli + Justin
June 27th, 2020
On June 27th, I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding and elopement celebration in one of the prettiest spots I’ve ever been to, Unity Pond in Maine.
While the conditions that brought me to Maine might not have been the most optimal, everything turned out just right to make sure the happy couple had a wonderful celebration.
Kelli and Justin were set to have a big and festive wedding in Georgia, but that was before the pandemic threw things into flux.
The two had to scramble to make a change and keep their original ceremony date, which was important since it marked a year after the two had gotten engaged.
Justin is originally from Maine, and his family has property on Unity Pond in the town of Burnham.
This gave the couple an idea, and, as a result, they decided to do a small and intimate elopement celebration in Maine in front of just their parents and the officiant, Justin’s cousin.
The couple also decided to push back their celebration in Georgia until June of 2021.
I was fortunate to be asked to come up to Maine to photograph the celebration, and I’m so glad Kelli and Justin reached out.
Even with all the changed plans, their celebration was such a beautiful one to document. We were blessed with a gorgeous location and fantastic weather befitting the summertime setting in New England.
Every bit of the celebration was personal and family-oriented. As mentioned, Justin’s cousin officiated the ceremony, which was streamed live so friends and family far and away could watch.
Kelli wore a wedding dress that featured a photo patch from her mother’s wedding date. Kelli and Justin’s dad wore ties with photo patches of their children.
The dads also helped with the post-wedding meal, a low country boil featuring Maine lobsters.
The happy couple said their vows with lovely Unity Pond behind them. After the ceremony, they had their first dance, took photos with their parents, and then did a newlyweds photo session surrounded by the gorgeous New England scenery.
Once that was completed, everyone relaxed and enjoyed dinner and fellowship.
I sincerely want to thank Kelli, Justin, and their families for having me out to photograph this celebration and for the hospitality that was shown throughout the day.
I definitely want to wish Kelli and Justin nothing but the best in their lives together as a married couple.
