Wedding + Elopement Photography Style and Approach
When it comes to my preferred visual style and approach for weddings and elopements, I understand I might not be for everyone. I don’t fall under the “dark and moody” or “light and bright” designations. I don’t like to be confined to a particular style because every celebration is different.
I prefer a dreamy and cinematic-style presentation based on the natural look of your venue and overall wedding day atmosphere.
While my digital photography is inspired by film photography, I’m also happy to announce that I’m providing actual film photography coverage for couples. Scroll down the page a bit for more information on that feature!
My main inspiration, though, comes from movies. I’m a big fan of Wes Anderson if you can’t tell. I love composing photos with my couples in the middle of the frame and the beautiful landscapes surrounding them.
I’ll create images that look like they came right out of a motion picture. Even though I’m only doing still photography, I like my photos to have a cinematic quality to them.
I’m also going to do everything I can to make sure the photos reflect who you are and the love you have for each other.
I’m all about photos that are natural and true to self. Those tend to make the most memorable shots!

Wedding + Elopement Photography Pricing
Wedding and elopement photography coverage starts at $3000 and can increase based on the size of your celebration (wedding party and guests), location, and other factors. Lower priced options might be available on a case-by-case basis based on date and location.
While you will probably find photographers at a lesser price than my services, you are not going to find a better value than what I am offering. Please consider that in your decision, especially if you are emphasizing the photography for your special day.
My pricing is based on the fact you are hiring me as the photographer for your wedding day. I’m giving that day exclusively to you and no one else. This is why I do not offer by-the-hour pricing, even if you only need a photographer for a couple of hours.
I have been photographing weddings and elopements since 2010, so you are booking all of that experience and knowledge. Your photos will be captured by a professional who knows what they are doing and will not ruin the memories of your special day.
Pricing is also based on the customer service I’m providing, and the wants and needs of you + your partner. The value you’ll be getting from what I will provide is well worth the cost of coverage for your day. For example, I will also help as an extra coordinator to make sure your day goes off without a hitch.
Please click on the button below to go to my pricing page for information on the booking process, my wedding + elopement photography package, and to send an official inquiry about your interest. I can’t get you a full, fair, and accurate quote unless you send an official inquiry form with all the details about your celebration.
Love is Love
Love is Love. Plain and simple. I do not believe in discrimination and will not support it.
I am proud to be an inclusive and LGBTQIA+ friendly photographer and am proud to work with any couple that would like me to photograph their special day.
A Documentary Mentality
Do note that I believe in a documentary approach to my photography. I believe in real moments and real emotions without a lot of interference or staged events. Every photo you see on this website is from a real wedding and not a staged shoot.
Now while I’ll give you posing suggestions, I fully want your photos to reflect your natural personalities and love for each other. I want to tell YOUR story, and this is the best way possible.
Unless we’re doing formal family or couples photos, I operate with the mentality of a “fly on the wall”. I’m there, but I’m not telling you how to pose or where to look.
This is also a big reason why I do not use Photoshop to alter an image. I honestly wouldn’t even know where to begin because I never use Photoshop during the editing process. I use Lightroom to adjust for cropping, framing, color, tone, and other general details.
Because of this method and approach, I can get you your photos back in a matter of days and not months.
Except for requested family photos, I also do not work off a shot list on the day of the wedding. While I will always take a photo you request, I feel a shot list strips all the natural flow out of a wedding day.
A Non-Traditional Approach
I like to do things a bit differently, and I love working with those who enjoy the same approach.
If you’re looking for someone that’s going to be rigid, and not able to adapt, then I’m not the right fit for you. If you’re also looking for someone who has work that looks like everyone else or is trying to copy the latest social media trends, then I’m definitely not the right fit for you.
I fully believe in crafting a style and approach unique to myself and unique to each wedding + elopement I photograph.
I do this by also taking your creative input and suggestions and then molding them into the overall vision for the day.
This is your wedding day, and I want to make sure your photos stand out above all the others! I want them to be unique, special, and individual.
Intimate Wedding Photography
A rustic Birmingham, Alabama wedding, an elegant Palm Springs, California wedding, a whimsical Pacific Northwest wedding on the Oregon coast, or something in between…
I’ve photographed weddings of all shapes and sizes since 2010, and I want to do the same for you!
The weddings I love are intimate celebrations where the couple wants to enjoy the day, be laid back, and let me handle documenting all the moments. These are celebrations where you don’t have to worry about anything except enjoying the day with your partner and your guests.
Your wedding day is about the two of you, and that is my priority when I photograph a celebration. My focus will be on getting as many photos of the two of you as possible. I love doing first looks and I love doing mini-shoots with couples throughout the wedding day or weekend!
Adventurous Elopement Photography
Going hand in hand with my love of photographing intimate wedding celebrations, I also love getting to photograph adventurous + destination elopement celebrations.
Make your own traditions and don’t worry about having to do what others have done in the past. Forge your own path and make your own memories. Don’t feel bound by traditions. An elopement can be anything you want it to be.
Whether you and your partner want to do an adventurous elopement on the Oregon Coast, the Pacific Northwest, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, a National Park celebration in Wyoming or Montana, an escapade to Palm Springs or Southern California, an intimate gathering in New England, a destination getaway to the Florida Keys, or anywhere else in the United States, I’d love to document all the special moments!
Wedding + Elopement Weekend Photography Coverage
Not only do I want to tell the full story of your wedding + elopement day, but I also want to tell the full story of your entire weekend!
That is why I offer a full wedding + elopement weekend photography package so all the great moments leading up to the celebration can be documented. You can get a wedding weekend couples, bridal, and/or boudoir session along with coverage of the rehearsal dinner!
This is a great option for couples who want as many photographic memories from their special weekend as possible!
Full Coverage for Your Wedding + Elopement Day – No Time Limit
I’ve been photographing weddings + elopements since 2010, and, ever since then, I’ve operated with the philosophy of wanting to tell the entire story of a wedding or elopement.
That is why I offer all couples a full day’s coverage of their celebration. This means I do not put you on any time limit whatsoever. It also means I do not work by the hour.
My approach is simple. You give me a start time, and I’m there until all the events of the reception have been documented.
I’m committed to you for the entire day, not just 6 or 8 hours or some other pre-determined limit, because your entire day is important to me.
More Value for Your Wedding + Elopement Photography Budget
On top of providing couples with a guaranteed full day’s worth of photography coverage for their wedding or elopement celebration, I also believe in going above and beyond with what I give to them.
I absolutely hate being nickel and dimed in life, and I refuse to do that with my couples. I’m not going to make you pick a set number of photos and then try to upsell the rest of YOUR photos. I hate being upsold when I’m a customer, and I refuse to do it to my couples.
I’m all about providing my couples with extra goodies that increase the value of their wedding + elopement photography package at no extra cost! We’re talking things like complimentary engagement sessions, rehearsal dinner coverage, multiple versions of each photo, and more
Engagement Sessions, Bridal Sessions, and Boudoir Sessions
I’m always happy to provide couples with their choice of a stand-alone engagement session, bridal session, or boudoir session!
This would be done at a time before the wedding weekend, and it gives us a great chance to get to know each other while also doing a fantastic photo session in the process.
Do note that, out of respect for privacy, I do not make my boudoir sessions public on this website. Samples can be seen by request.
Multiple Color Versions of Each Photo
A special feature I offer for all couples is that I give multiple color versions of each photo that makes the final cut!
That means every couple gets the “out of the camera” version of their photos, which means the image has just been altered for cropping, exposure, and white balance.
I then do two different color edits on each photo. Those edits are what you see on this page and throughout my website.
The two images above are from the same wedding wedding. The first image is the out-of-camera version. The second is an edited color version.
I offer this so you can get a true-to-life version of your photos while also not being forced to select just one visual style. If you like a light and bright style AND a dark and moody style or a dreamy and cinematic style, you are going to get those multiple looks.
This is all part of the extra value I believe in giving to my couples to help them remember all the special moments of their wedding day.
Wedding Photos on Film
All weddings + elopements will come with a special film option to go along with the photos taken digitally. This is just one of the many ways I’m happy to bring extra value to your celebration.
I will take photos on a roll of film, send them off to be developed and scanned, and deliver them to you when I receive them.
These take a little longer to process than the digital photos, but I know the wait will be worth it!
The two photos above are a representation of what film photos will look like once they are processed.
Black and White Photos are Also Included
While the photos included on this website are all in color, I am happy to provide all couples with black-and-white copies of their photos!
Black and white photos can look so dreamy, elegant, and lovely, and that’s why I have always included them as something I provide to my couples.
I never want to sit and determine what photo looks good in color and what photo looks good in black and white. I’d much rather give them all in color and all in black and white!
You Get Your Photos Back in a Matter of Days… Not Months
One of the things I’ve believed in ever since I started photographing weddings + elopements is not making couples wait months and months to get their photos back.
These are precious memories, and I 100% believe in getting them delivered to you as quickly as possible.
That is why I promise to get your photos delivered to you within a week of your celebration date.
I start work on the photos immediately, and I do mean immediately, once I leave your celebration. I will also be sending you several sneak previews the day after your celebration.
Because this is my only job and because of the editing style I use, I can edit a full wedding shoot extremely quickly. If I’m editing a wedding, it is my chief priority above all else.
This means you can share all the great photos and memories with your special someone, your family, and your friends as quickly as possible.
This is YOUR Special Day
Something I stress with everyone is that it is YOUR special day.
Do whatever you’d like on your special day, and do whatever is going to make you happy.
On your wedding day, I am your chief advocate. My top priority is making sure the memories of your day are documented the way you want them to be and not the way someone else thinks they should be.
I want to make it abundantly clear that I work for you and your partner. Your creative input and suggestions are the only ones I’ll take into account unless otherwise stated.
Don’t feel pressured or obligated to do something that isn’t going to reflect your personality and style. I’ll do everything I can to make sure that happens, and I’m not about to tell you otherwise!
Since I want to focus on getting the photos you want and deserve, I also want to focus on establishing a positive flow of communication from the time you first say hi to the time I tell you your photos are ready.
I highly recommend you have a coordinator of some type for your wedding. They are well worth the expense and can prevent so many problems from happening.
That being said, I’m also here to help and assist you and your coordinator in any way, shape, or form. Need help with finding a location? Struggling with design choices? Can’t figure out a timeline? Looking for just a little extra confidence boost? I’ve got your back on all of that and more.
